Flock Safety, Millie Moon, Hyperscalers, and Whimsigoth Are Trending
Crime tech, luxury diapers, massive AI data centres, and a moody style shift; four trends making noise right now.
Welcome Back!!!
When markets get noisy, clear signals matter. The smartest founders and investors know where to look on the edges of culture, commerce, and technology. That’s where trends begin.
This week’s Lowdown spotlights four fast-rising trends are an AI-powered crime surveillance, an affordable luxury diaper brand, the next wave of hyperscale computing, and the unexpected rise of whimsigoth fashion. Together, these represent movement in very different corners of the market, but each points to how consumer behaviour and enterprise infrastructure are evolving fast.

Trend #1: Flock Safety - AI Crime Surveillance, Scaled

Flock Safety is building a network of smart surveillance devices to help reduce crime across American neighborhoods and cities. Their tech includes solar-powered license plate readers, video cameras, and gunshot detectors, all equipped with AI and machine learning that automatically detects suspicious activity and sends alerts in real time.
The system encrypts and stores data on the cloud for 30 days, after which it’s wiped clean. Their subscription model is used by local police departments, schools, HOAs, and private companies. With devices now live in more than 5,000 communities across 49 states, Flock has quietly become one of the largest players in public safety tech.
Flock Safety is part of the AI for Law Enforcement meta trend. Tools like automated license plate readers, AI video analytics, and drone surveillance are becoming standard practice. Police using AI reportedly solve violent crimes 66% more often. Search interest in AI surveillance is up nearly 300% in two years. As crime-fighting tools become more predictive and precise, public safety is entering its most data-driven era yet.
Trend #2: Millie Moon - Affordable Luxury for the Littlest Customers

Millie Moon is a diaper brand giving legacy players a run for their money. Parents are loving the ultra-soft feel, eco-conscious messaging, and gentle-on-skin certifications. But it’s the price that turns heads. At $0.26 per diaper, Millie Moon undercuts other premium brands by nearly 40 percent.
Launched in 2021 and sold exclusively at Target and Loblaws, Millie Moon has moved over 6.7 million packs, making it the fastest-growing diaper brand on Target’s shelves. The company recently expanded its product line to include a new born size, catering to even more parents looking for comfort and value.
Millie Moon is part of the Luxury Diapers meta trend. With the global diaper market nearing $61B, a new generation of parents is demanding non-toxic, chemical-free, and beautifully designed baby products. One-third of moms now choose natural or eco-conscious options. Search volume for “non-toxic diapers” is up more than 230%, and upstarts like Coterie, Rascals, and Pura are all riding this premium wave.
Trend #3: Hyperscalers - Fueling the AI Data Boom

Hyperscalers are the digital giants behind the world’s biggest data infrastructure. Amazon, Microsoft, and Google account for two-thirds of the global cloud market, and they are investing heavily in the future. From 1,000+ operational data centers to billion-dollar expansions in Mississippi and Indiana, the race to scale has never been more aggressive.
These hyperscale hubs are also dominating undersea cable routes, owning more than 70% of global capacity. Their reach is massive, but it’s AI that’s turbocharging the next phase of growth.
Hyperscalers are part of the AI Computing Boom meta trend. AI models require enormous amounts of processing power and cooling capacity. Every ten prompts on ChatGPT, for example, use about 16 ounces of water and 10 times the energy of a Google search. That’s why Gartner predicts 2.7 million AI servers worth $81B will be active by 2027. Search interest in “AI data center” is up over 1,000%. Infrastructure is becoming the backbone of the AI economy, and hyperscalers are laying the foundation.
Trend #4: Whimsigoth - The Dark, Dreamy Aesthetic Taking Over

Whimsigoth is having a moment. This fashion and lifestyle trend blends the mystique of gothic aesthetics with the flowy, ethereal feel of fairy tales. Think velvet drapes, black lace, moon-shaped jewellery, and rich jewel tones like emerald and amethyst. It’s moody. It’s feminine. It’s TikTok gold.
The trend is booming across fashion, interior design, and even nail art. TikTok posts tagged with “whimsigoth” have surpassed 30 million in fashion alone, with decor and nail art close behind. Pinterest searches for “soft goth” and “gothic nail art” are also exploding.
Whimsigoth is part of the Dark Feminine meta trend. This aesthetic movement embraces power, mystery, and personal boundaries. With search volume for “dark feminine” up more than 1,100% in five years, it’s clear that consumers, especially women, are craving identity expressions that are bold and unapologetic. From siren eyes to black nail theory to seductive fragrance notes like cherry and pink pepper, the dark feminine energy is unmistakable and growing stronger.
